I am the type of person that prefers to sit down with a book to learn something rather than wade through help files and frequent forums. When I found myself needing to learn MuseScore, I naturally turned to Amazon to see what was available.Not much, but I wasn't really expecting a lot for a free program.I did find this book, though, and immediately ordered it. I waited for it to come in and was surprised when the package arrived. It is tiny! It contains only 39 pages of "useful" text and some filler. For the price paid, I figured I had been taken.Still, something was better than nothing and I began to work through it. It really did not take much "work".This is a very brief, very light treatment of a highly capable application. Even so, upon completion, I feel that I can make a creditable effort at doing what I need to do.Don't expect exercises and lessons. They aren't there. Think of this book as the "Quick Start" version of an instruction manual that used to come with a product in the "good old days." This book will not make you an expert but it will certainly guide you through the interface and basic capabilities.I believe it is a bit overpriced for what you get but, upon reflection, it has been worthwhile to me.

This book is based on the 1.xx series of MuseScore. Although the material in it is mostly valid, the 2.xx versions are much more to my liking, and books written about them, as well as the MuseScore 2.0 documentation do a better job of describing the features.

I never purchased this book because I was able to review it on Scribd (paid membership). The first 25 pages literally have no information for you. Just a few sentences, and in some cases, one sentence, then on the next useless page. Nothing is in this remaing 75 pages you could not get from free online resources from MuseScore.

This is still a good quick start guide for MuseScore. Although written for an older version, it still does the job for v2.1. It's short, but at $8 for the Kindle version it's not that expensive. (Although disclaimer that I didn't use the Kindle version. I read it online in another venue.)

First off, if Nicolas Froment, MuseScore's CTO, was a reviewer for this book, then you know it's gotta be good :) He's helped me personally, several times, with getting started with MuseScore and knows what he's talking about.I was pleased to see there's an installation section for Linux :)One thing I can totally agree with the author on is learning the keyboard shortcuts--composing will go much faster.
