Author and fifth-generation area native Michael Fredson is president of the Mason County Historical Society. This book tells about the interesting history of the Hood Canal part of the state of WA. Here is some of the interesting information that this book mentions: Vancouver, B.C. and Vancouver, WA are named after Captain George Vancouver. The Puget Sound in WA is named after Lt. Peter Puget. Hood's Channel was named after Right Honorable Lord Samuel Hood, but on the maps, it was mislabeled Hood's Canal. The Hood Canal has beautiful scenery. Within a mile of Twanoh State Park, Shamrock Point was a favorite destination for Bremerton residents. In 2005, the Skokomish tribe opened the Lucky Dog tribal casino on Highway 101 to provide employment for tribal members. In 2002, the managers of the Robin Hood Restaurant remodeled the Robin Hood Restaurant, reviving much of the 1930's décor.
