John Silke does a good job covering various aspects of record collecting, as well as touching a bit on related items (the pitfalls of selling/buying records online, buying a turntable, setting up your own record fair). Although it has a a decidedly U.K.-slant (except for a chapter where he covers record hunting in New York City), there's a lot any record aficionado will find to enjoy in his book, including the joys of stumbling upon someone's collection in their home and their not realizing what they've got! Only suggestion to the author: get a better proof reading/copy editor: there's quite a few run on sentences here that should have been split into two sentences and other missing punctuation that detracted just slightly from my enjoyment of the book.

Great collection of stories about records and collecting! The author is English, but makes several trips to the US, as his wife is American. The articles are mainly from England and were originally published on the author's blog!I found it hard to put down and would have given this one 5 stars if it had contained more information about the more recent resurgence of vinyl. The hip-hop and dance communities are full of brand new vinyl, but this book is mainly focused on music from the 1970's or so...Definitely recommended to anyone interested in music or collecting! A quick, fun and easy read!

Just getting back into vinyl, this was a fun little read. I enjoyed it. It is definitely worth the $3.

As a vinyl enthusiast myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this short book. It has a nice variety of short essays, interviews, and witty commentary about the pleasures and pitfalls of vinyl collecting.

A good introduction to the nuts and bolts collection vinyl instead of CDs or MP3 but doesn't explore the big picture of why people do this and what is the evidence for the better quality of analog recordings compared with digital

A painless way to learn about record collecting with a lot of amusing anecdotes along the way.Better to spend a coupla bucks on this before venturing into the vinyl trade ring.

Enjoyable, fun read. You can truly sense the passion the author has for vinyl. I live in a rural area and the nearest record store is 2.5 hours away...this book makes me want to hit the road and go hunting for the elusive vinyl prize!

Loved this book. Enjoyed the authors stories and experiences as a vinyl record collector and seller. I never read a book in just one sitting, but this book was hard to put down and was read from cover to cover
